Detailed Itinerary for the 10 days Rwanda safari

Welcome to Kigali to the hotel

Once you have arrived, customs clearance may take at most one hour, thereafter you will meet our our professional driver guide, with whom you will proceed to your booked accommodation for dinner and a peaceful night rest.

Day 1: Kigali city tour and Transfer to Akagera national park & Boat ride.

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast,  then proceed along with the driver guide for a Kigali city tour to visit the Genocide memorial at Gisozi, Kaplaki craft market, the local market, Hotel Rwanda, among others, and continue to  Akagera National park.

The vast Akagera national Park forms borders with Tanzania, and hosts wild game: Elephants, Lions, Zebras, Roan Antelopes, Impalas, water bucks, warthogs, leopards, Elands, Hippos, giraffes. and many more. Thereafter you will join others for a, amazing sun set boat cruise on the island on Lake Ihema. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight rest at the hotel.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kigali.

Day 2 of the 10 days Rwanda safari, starts with breakfast early in the morning, followed by game drives to look for Zebras, giraffes, impalas, Elephants baboons, Topi, leopards (rarely seen), Elands, Roan antelopes and the currently introduced Lions. After then proceed to the northern part of the park, and exit through the northern gate, where you will both proceed to Kigali for lunch and continue to Nyungwe forest National park.

Places to visit en route  include Nyanza kings palace, Butare ethnographic museum, Murambi genocide memorial thereafter continue  to your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in afternoon

Breakfast is served early in the morning, then proceed with the driver guide to the Park Headquarters for chimpanzee tracking rules and regulation briefing . With the help of a ranger guide, you in a group of 8 will be led to the tropical rain forest of Nyungwe to look for the chimpanzees.

Chimpanzee trekking schedule is unpredictable, that it may take between 2 hours to 6 hours, including the at most 1 hour  of face to face contact with the chimpanzees, as you watch them perform their daily duties upon finding them.

Not only are chimpanzees found here, but Nyungwe Forest National Park is also a home to Angola colobus monkey, owl faced monkey,  l’heost monkey,s red tailed monkey, and bird species in a bundance with high concentration of Albertine rift endemic bird species

Return for lunch at the lodge, then embark on your drive for the afternoon canopy walk that will last 1-3 hours depending on which bridge you will be assigned. You will walk on suspended across the forest as you get the chance to glimpse bird varieties,  different monkeys types, butterflies among other forest creatures, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 4: Colobus Monkey Tracking and transfer to Kibuye.

Start the day with breakfast early in the morning, then head to the thick Nyungwe Forest to track the  rare Angolan colobus monkey which are rare to see but  have been habituated to meet humans. You will also encounter other monkey species like montane monkeys, red tailed, grey-cheeked monkeys as well as bird species.

Find your way out for lunch at the lodge,  and head to Kibuye town, that is located on the Lake Kivu shores. Enroute you will enjoy the scenic drive on Lake kivu shores.

Check in at the lodge, then after have dinner & an overnight

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu in Rubavu, Gisenyi and Go for Afternoon boat ride

Day 5 of the 10 days Rwanda safari  begins with tea very early in the morning,  followed by  a rewarding drive through beautiful views of the province to Gisenyi town. Enroute you will have lunch, then later on head for a boat ride on Lake Kivu, as visit the hot spring gas plant, coffee, later have.

Dinner and peaceful night rest at the lodge

Day 6: Morning Walk and transfer to Volcanoes National park.

Wake up for breakfast early in the Morning, then take a walk along Lake Kivu shores as well as on the borders of Congo to enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding as you witness the lifestyle of the people within. Depending on your checkout, embark on your drive to Volcanoes national park  in Ruhengeri.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking adventure and Iby’Iwacu

After a delicious breakfast, head for Mountain Gorilla trekking briefing  at the the park headquarters in Volcanoes national park.  Led by a ranger guide , you will trek through the forest for  a time range between 2 – 6 hours depending on how far they may have moved, which also includes the maximum 1 hour of interacting with them face to face..

return for lunch at the lodge, then later in the evening, visit the Iby’Iwachu cultral  village for an ultimate cultural experience, where you can partake in the cultural dance, learn the hunting skills among others

Day 8: Mount Bisoke Hike

A sumptious breakfast is served early in the morning, thereafter head for briefing at the park head quarters. Mount Bisoke hike being, it being quite challenging, may lust a full day, which therefore requires packing enough food, water and a porter to help carry your luggage.

Return to the Lodge after hiking excursion for dinner and an overnight.

Day 9: Golden monkey tracking and transfer to Kigali / Airport

Like Mountain Gorillas, set off early after breakfast, for briefing about the  dos and the don’ts  at the park head quarters. The trekking might take 3-4 hours, thereafter you will return, to take another  visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera and return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Departure

day 10 is our last day of our 10 days Rwanda safari. After your morning breakfast, you will be driven back to Kigali, where you will proceed to the lodge or airport for your flight back home.
